Tell Me Something Good Aug. 8, 2011 TCPalm
Good news for the start of the new school year -- The St. Lucie County School District’s School Food and Nutrition Services program has been named a “District of Excellence in School Nutrition” as designated by the National School Nutrition Association. This designation is earned through comprehensive documentation and peer review process verifying implementation of Best Practices in School Nutrition. After receiving a perfect audit, the St. Lucie County School District Food and Nutrition Department applied for the District of Excellence Distinction Award through the School Nutrition Foundation, one of the highest national awards that honors districts that display and implement best practices in the area of Food and Nutrition.
It’s a surprise -- The Presbyterian Women of First Presbyterian Church, in a surprise ceremony, has awarded Honorary Life Membership to Rosemary Freas. This is the highest recognition given by Presbyterian Women. Recipients of Honorary Life Membership are part of a select group who has been honored for their commitment and their faithful service to the church. A contribution made in Ms. Freas honor will be used to help support training of women for future leadership within the church.
