Ladybird Car Insurance

Women do not have to pay less for bcar insurance/b than men? : : Ford b.../b

Men love to make jokes about ‘women drivers’ but it seems it is the females that have the last laugh with a host of car insurance providers offering cheaper deals to the fairer sex.

A number of car insurance providers including Diamond, Diva, Ladybird, Sheila’s Wheels and Women on Wheels market their car insurance products exclusively towards females claiming that they can offer cheaper deals with better cover options that reflect the superior driving record of women. It is their take that because women present less risk on the road they can be rewarded with cheaper premiums.

So is this justified? Well if you believe statistics it seems so. American women for example, were involved in 5.7 crashes per million miles driven in 2007, whereas male drivers clocked up just 5.1 crashes over the same distance. In the UK the difference is greater still with men responsible for 97 per cent of all dangerous driving convictions according to the Home Office.

With these figures taken into account it seems fairly justifiable for women to receive cheaper car insurance than men. However, just because an insurance company markets towards females it doesn’t mean that they necessarily offer the best deals.

The female-only insurers attempt to attract business by offering a number of unique incentives that target women such as handbag cover, child seat cover, priority roadside assistance and mobile phone locator services.

However, many of these added incentives come at a price. For example, research from a comparison website found that a 30-year-old woman driving a Ford Focus, Renault Megane or Vauxhall Astra would pick up a typical premium of £269 a year through the female-only brands, but could actually pick up a quote as low as £174 a year through a conventional insurer.

The key for female drivers then is to assess how much extra they are willing to pay for these Other services.
