Joanne: The car insurance roundabout Huddersfield Examiner (blog)
Lucky for the male population you’d think, though you can bet their premiums won’t come down, women’s will just go up.
We wanted equality, here it is.
The change is, apparently, due to come into effect in December 2012 and would mean women’s premiums could rise by around 25%.
But I’ve noticed a vast change already in my search for suitable car insurance.
In fairness, I have bought a slightly newer car, but one quote with a leading firm was a 65% increase compared to this time last year.
I have another year no claims, no accidents or speeding points and I’m a year older – and wiser!
From £349 last year – with less excess, a courtesy car and road assistance thrown in – to £525 this year without any perks is a jump too high.
A television advert for one insurance company proclaims that “We get more new people joining us than any other insurance company”.
