Golders Green, Mil HIll and Edgware among most expensive for home insurance Times-Series

THREE Barnet postcodes are in the top ten most expensive in the UK to get home insurance, figures released today show.

A study for Moneysupermarket.com shows Golders Green's NW11, Mill Hill's NW7 and HA8, the Edgware postcode are some of the most expensive places to insure.

Cheapest average quotes for Golders Green were £280.90 per year, while Mill Hill homeowners face £270.76 bill and Edgware £265.27.

The most expensive is the Stanmore district of Harrow, on £286.50, while Bournemouth has the cheapest rates, paying on average £103.98 for the lowest quote.

Factors affecting the quotes include claims history as well as crime rates, with people in more affluent areas paying more.

Julie Owens, Moneysupermarket.com's head of home insurance, said: "Many homeowners just don't realise their postcode is a big contributing factor to how much they pay for their home insurance premium and that it can really hike the price.

“Homeowners need to make sure that they are getting the best deal possible, those in the cheapest areas can make the most of more affordable premiums, however, those in more expensive areas who do not shop around are effectively watching their hard-earned cash go up the chimney."
