Thought your followers in Canada would appreciate my property tax valuation here in Florida (Proposed bill just in) : 2007- $305,000, 2008- $$325,000, 2009- $253,600, 2010- $238, 250, 2011 – $213,360 (34% drop from 2008) I paid $175,00 for the place in 1997. The place is 3000Sq Ft. in gated community on a lake just 1 mile from the Indian River and 3 miles from the beach. We should hit the 1997 # shortly as the Kennedy Space Ctr is now closed and valuations are really free falling as people scramble to dump and run. Unlike your featured couple I’ve almost paid the place off and have the bulk of my savings in Canadian dividend stocks, gold mining (AUY), and Silver Bullion Trust.
I’m earning $2500/month at age 48 and reinvest most dividends on a monthly basis for additional compounding. Canada has some of the best selection income stocks (converted income trusts) than another country in the world and your dollar will be the last standing on the heap of world fiat currencies. The path forward is pretty clear.
