Major sponsor signs up again Fraser Coast Chronicle
FOLLOWING the weekend's 24-hour Human Powered Vehicle Championships, $30,000 has been secured for next year's challenge.
In a major coup for sustainable energy research on the Fraser Coast, RACQ has agreed to back Maryborough's Technology Challenge next year.
The insurance and motoring giant has committed the spending to ensure the future and continued success of the state's largest technology event, where students design, build and race a variety of machines that harness alternative energy.
RACQ sponsorship and event manager David Contarini said the event's message was important to the local community.
"It allows us to highlight our commitment to sustainable energy and to teach students about alternative means of travel," he said.
This year's event saw more than 8000 flock to Maryborough's centre to watch more than 100 teams compete.
Last year's winning school St Mary's was again triumphant.
